Tom Kimler
Role
Team Lead
Background
Thomas is originally from Davenport, Iowa. Outside of his studies, his hobbies include guitar and hiking.
Education
Senior in Electrical Engineering
Project Experience
Thomas has two years of experience in circuit board design for various applications including high speed systems and high precision data converters. Along with technical experience, Thomas has also been a guitar player for over 10 years with additional experience in live performance.
Future
Thomas is currently in the application process for the Concurrent Master's Program at Iowa State University. While pursuing his degree, will participate in a second internship with Texas Instruments. Once done with school, Thomas plans to spend his career in the semiconductor industry.
Ben Reichert
Role
Test Lead
Background
Originally from Libertville, Illinois.
Hobbies include guitar and skateboarding.
Education
Senior in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Hardware VLSI.
Project Experience
Since 2015, Ben has worked under Dr. Sanjeevi Sivasankar as an undergraduate researcher. While the lab focuses mainly on biophysics applications, the majority of his research time is spend contributing to new technology development - particularly in the the field of ultra-stable atomic force microscopy.
Over the summer of 2017, Ben worked as an Electrical engineering intern at TSI in Shoreview, MN. At TSI, Ben spend the majority of my time utilizing electromagnetic compliance (EMC) hardware to analyze product behavior in adverse operating conditions.
Future
Ben is currently deciding between graduate school (masters in science), direct entry PhD, or going directly into industry. Ultimately, he hopes to work on the west coast as an analog circuit designer.
Dan Kroese
Role
Embedded Lead
Background
Originally from Lenox, Iowa.
Education
Senior in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Embedded Systems and Systems & Controls.
Project Experience
Dan has 8+ years of guitar and piano experience.
Dan has moderate experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems allowing him to program the emulator.
Future
Career goal as an automation engineer working on Programmable Logic Control in Iowa. PTC allows manufacturing in a company more streamline, accurate, and effective.
Garrett Mayer
Role
Software Lead
Background
Originally from Faribault, Minnesota.
Education
Senior in Computer Engineering.
Project Experience
Garrett has had a 2 years in expereince with low-level C programming including work in embedded systems.
Future
Garrett has yet to decide to join industry or pursue a PhD in Computer Engineering.
Virginia Boy
Role
Power Lead
Background
Originally from Rochester, New York.
Member of the US Navy STA-21 program.
Education
Senior in Electrical Engineering with a power emphasis.
Project Experience
Virginia has several years of experience playing the violin.
Additionally, she studied music theory in high school.
Future
Intends to commission in the United States Navy upon graduation.
